For this photo assignment, I shot the subject still life, which I had been saving especially for the last photo assignment. Shooting still life was actually a lot harder than I thought it would be because I had a difficult time picking objects to shoot. After a while of taking pictures, I took some weird things from my sister's room, like the rocks and the glass block in the picture below, and they actually made interesting pictures! I used two white binders for my background and used a flashlight to illuminate the focus point and to make the shadow of the glass block. I would say that I spent the most time taking pictures for this photo assignment, and I am pretty happy with how my pictures turned out. From this last photo assignment, I learned about shooting still life, lighting subjects, and more about editing pictures in Photoshop. For this photograph, I decreased its temperature, exposure, contrast, and blacks. I increased highlights, shadows, whites, clarity, vibrance, and saturation. I also added vignetting and used the stamp tool to adjust the image.

For this assignment, we learned how to shoot portraits. We first had to learn about the different types of lighting for portraits; window and studio lighting. I think that my studio lighting portrait turned out okay, but I think that I zoomed in too much on my window lighting portrait. I also think that I should've decreased my exposure a little more for the window lighting portrait. Overall, I learned from this assignment about different types of lighting, shooting portraits, and layers, framing digital photos, resizing photos, and adding text to photos in Photoshop.
For this photo assignment, I decided to take pictures of landscapes for my "other" option. I really wanted to take landscape pictures, but I had already taken pictures of nature, which landscapes was categorized as. So I decided to use my "other," subject and take pictures of landscapes, which was approved by Mr. Bush. For taking landscape pictures, I decided to go to a farm that had a pond and a bunch of different buildings to shoot. So I took my pictures there, and I think they turned out okay. From this photo assignment, I learned about taking pictures of landscapes, controlling exposure, and about editing pictures in photoshop. For this photograph, I decreased its temperature, exposure, highlights, and shadows. I increased its contrast, vibrance, and saturation.
For this assignment, our task was to find a Photoshop tutorial online, and to prove an understanding of the tutorial by doing it yourselves in Photoshop. It took me a while to choose a tutorial to do, mainly because I wanted to do a "creating landscapes" tutorial, which take a pretty long time. But in the end, I chose a tutorial about changing colors in pictures. I chose the picture below because it contained a variation of hues and colors, that would be able to be switched pretty easily. Overall, my after version of the picture wasn't that good because my color selections and refined layer masks were not the best, also because the image I chose wasn't very high in quality and wasn't made up of very many pixels, and finally because I didn't really change the colors of the image to make it look better, but to show more that I could change its colors. From this tutorial, I learned about selecting color ranges, and refining layer masks. Image Source: Nathaniel Goldberg - www.harpersbazaar.com/fashion/photography/g4818/the-best-brights-0914/?slide=9
Link of Tutorial: phlearn.com/how-to-select-and-change-colors-in-photoshop For this assignment, our task was to shoot panoramas. We had to take five total panoramas, each made up of three or more separate pictures. I decided to take pictures of our school's auxiliary gym, the pool, our school's main gym, a hallway by the office, and the outside of the school. From this assignment, I learned about taking and putting together panoramas in Photoshop, and I also learned about the settings necessary for shooting them.
For this photo assignment, I chose the subject animals. I had tried taking pictures of my dogs before, but they never turned out well. But when I realized they turned out a lot better outside, I decided to finally shoot pictures of animals. Most of my pictures were taken outside my house, but some of them were also taken inside. I took my pictures over the course of two days, which I had never done before, and I'm glad I did because I ended up with a lot more "good" pictures. From this assignment, I learned more about controlling exposure, which I did for almost all of my pictures. For this photograph, I decreased its temperature, exposure, highlights, whites, and blacks. I increased its contrast, shadows, clarity, vibrance, and saturation.
For this photo assignment, I chose the subject black & white. I had never taken black & white pictures before, so I decided to try it. I really had no idea what to shoot, or even what types of objects are good for black & white pictures, so I pretty much just went around my house and took pictures of a bunch of different things. I don't really like how I had to take pictures, and then wait to turn it black & white at school because I would've realized that I needed to pick objects to shoot that had more contrast. But overall, I think some of my pictures turned out okay. From this assignment, I learned about black & white photography, and more about adjusting images in photoshop. For this photograph, I decreased its exposure, blacks, shadows, and of course, saturation. I increased the photo's contrast, highlights, whites, and clarity.
For this photoshop assignment, we had to take a picture of someplace in our school, and then use Photoshop to manipulate the photo and add in features that changed the context of the photo. For example, I added a rocky blue floor, a lava pit, a San Diego landscape, a clock, a green monster walking down the stairs, and a unicorn. I also added shadows to the unicorn, monster, and clock to make them look a little more realistic. From this project, I learned about selection methods, compositing multiple photos, and more about editing photos. |
